Young Writers Workshop
For a while now I have been following a large online platform for young adults, with a strong Christian themed message; Do Hard Things. This site is The Rebelution, and was started by brothers Brett and Alex Harris.
Brett Harris and Jaquelle Crowe recently launched an online community, called the Young Writers Workshop, that provides ongoing coaching and support to young adult writers. As an important personal and professional skill, I want to improve my writing and communication skills, and having a community of other young writers to help me grow and improve my skills was very appealing to me.
So far I have loved participating in this online community, and have already learnt so much from the author interviews, Q&A’s and masterclasses. As this community is fairly new, Brett and Jaquelle are shaping the material to the needs of the students in the group, and gradually putting up new content week by week. It has certainly made me become more consistent with my writing, and I am finding out about all sorts of new writing skills and resources.
If you have a look here, you can access the Young Writers Guidebook, and take the WriterScore assessment where you can assess your current writing abilities and evaluate your writing habits. Registration for the members only community is currently closed, but I’ll let you know when registrations open again later this year.
I’m really looking forward to learning so much more about developing my writing, and I am planning to put my skills to use on my new project, Find Your Sentence. This project will give me the opportunity to pursue different forms of writing, and adapt my skills to an online sharable platform.
